SPORT3  (8-12 yrs)

For the 2018-2019 season we are introducing a new program: SPORT3. Whereas SPORT 1 & 2 continue to introduce stroke fundamentals, the SPORT3 level progresses swimmers to applying all the skills into more formal training. Athletes at the SPORT3 level will begin to swim ‘sets’ and will be introduced to more complex skills, specifically the skill level of competitive swimming in each of the strokes.

To train at the SPORT3 level, athletes need:

In SPORT3, swimmers are required to train with a swim cap. Athletes are provided one (1) cap at registration. Replacement caps are $20 and are available from  For dryland, athletes are to have their swim suit on, with shorts and t-shirt over top along with non-marking running shoes.

The SPORT3 level Instructor is Coach Mark

Mark is an accomplished triathlete (qualified for 2019 Triathlon Worlds in Switzerland), an accomplished multisport athlete (qualified for 2019 Multisport Worlds in Spain), and is the U19 Aquathlon 2018 Provincial Champion. Aquathlon is a swim-run event. Mark is also a Certified Lifesaving Society Lifeguard.

In addition to coaching with jTOEST, Mark is a Strength & Conditioning coach for both the Junior Masters and Masters athletes who train with TOEST. Click here to link to our Team webpage, to learn more about Mark’s training, racing and coaching experiences.

For Mark, athletic achievement does not come at the cost of academics; he is also an Honour Roll student at Assumption Catholic Secondary School at the AP course level. Proof that proper healthy physical training does not compromise studying, instead it offers teenagers the toolkit of soft skills (i.e. perseverance, determination, stick-to-it-ness) required to achieve in sport, in school, and beyond.

With programs focused on quality, on learning, on athlete’s making significant progress, hi athlete turnover rate would compromise coaching and the experience of all athletes. We ask that prior to registering that all commitments, calendars, etc… are reviewed to avoid joining when the risk is that the athlete will miss many sessions and/or the athlete will have to drop out. Once an athlete registers, they have a reserved spot in a lane for the entire duration of the program.
