KICK2START for AGES 8-12

Our Kick2Start program is designed for athletes who have the basics of Freestyle (FR) and Butterfly (BK) technique, who want to continue improving these strokes, who also want to learn the basics of the Backstroke (BK) and Breaststroke (BR) and are eager to develop the capacity to swim longer distances.

In Kick2Start, athletes have in-pool training sessions twice each week, and a weekly dryland training session. As important as swimming technique are body position and body lines (i.e. posture, form). These athletic attributes are critical in order for swimmers to develop speed and endurance. These attributes are built training routines which develop agility, balance, coordination and core strength.

The Kick2Start program is appropriate for:

(1) Swimmers who have completed the jTOEST Learn2Swim program and have been recommended by their coach as ready to progress to this level of training, or

(2) Swimmers who have completed introductory swim programs with other clubs or teams, or at City of Burlington swim programs. For these swimmers, we request that parents contact aimee@toest.ca to setup an assessment swim so that your swimmer is placed in the program appropriate for their level of ability.

To participate, athletes will need:

  • a bathing suit (a suit for swimming is highly recommended as opposed to a fashion suit),

  • fins specific to competitive swimming (see image), and well fitted goggles,

and for dryland, athletes should come with swim suit already on, shorts and t-shirt over top along with non-marking running shoes.

Kick2Start starts March 2nd, runs to June 17th. There are a total of 42 sessions, cost is $620 (all in) as a one time payment or two payments of $310. First payment is at the time of registration with the second due prior to Apr 2nd.  Another option is to offer post dated cheques.  Please see below for all payment options. Kick2Start program runs weekly with the exception of Mar. 23, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and the Sunday of the Victoria Day long weekend.

REFUND POLICY: Prior to any program filling up or 2 weeks prior to the start of a program which is not full, TOEST will provide a full refund.

Otherwise, TOEST does not provide refunds because programs are capped in size, and once an athlete registers that spot is no longer available.
